Live Tropical fish hobby is considered as one of the most fulfilling, entertaining, educational, challenging and relaxing among hobbies. Anyone from kids to adult can experience the fun of re-creating an environment similar or close to that of the natural habitat of the fishes and their surroundings right in your home. From miles across the earth in the Carribean Sea, the fresh water lakes in South Africa or the Amazon River of South America; there are thousands of species of fish to choose from. Keeping live tropical fishes at home in turn provides a stronger family bonding, responsibility sharing, team works and interaction with each other in maintaining and learning about the chemistry, biology and physics of the aquarium.

While keeping live tropical fish, decorating the aquarium and watching them swim around the aquarium can be very entertaining, and relaxing a lot can be learned from scientifically creating the environment that will make the fish comfortable, happy and active. It will also induce your kids to love, and appreciate nature and care for environment.

The educational values and the incentive created by this hobby for kids to learn chemistry, biology and physics are immeasurably great.

HOW TO START THE LIVE TROPICAL FISH HOBBY:
Before you start, go to tropical aquarium shops in your area and look around. Get acquainted first with the fish in the pet shops. Try to determine what kind of fish and filtration systems you would like to have? And where and how big is the space in your home that you like allocate for the aquarium? Motivate your creativity on interior designing. Is it marine fish or fresh water fish that you like? Is it a big aquarium or a smaller aquarium that you like? Do you like small fish are big fishes? Big freshwater fish, and Marine fish, of all sizes requires at least a 50 gallon tank plus a filtration system underneath your tank to remove toxic waste of the aquarium water, minimizing the need to change water. Unless you are trying to spawn fishes, a large aquarium with a good filtration system setup requires very little maintenance and very seldom water change. Initially the setup may sound complicated, but it actually is not if you know how. It may cost a little to make the initial setup but after that, the return of investment is definitely a plus in several respects. The initial cost of setting up a good 50 to 70 gallon aquarium is still a lot less than some vacation or comparable to some furniture. But far more than furniture, it is a center of attraction, like a live television and a conversation piece of subject among friends in your party at home and in your office.
